Titled “Untitled (Human Mask)” the 19-minute film is one of Huyghe’s most famous works to date. The story is inspired by a real situation in Japan in which a monkey, wearing the mask of a young woman, is trained to work as a waitress in an abandoned Japanese city devastated by recent disasters. The action takes place inside a desolate restaurant/bar that’s inhabited by the masked monkey, which acts out the human condition in a forsaken world, and endlessly repeating the “young woman’s” unconscious role.

Displayed on a huge screen illuminated by the 10,000-lumen Christie HD10K-M 3DLP® projector, the screenings of Huyghe’s visual masterpiece are part of the SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2016 exhibition, sponsored by Christie Korea. The projector for this highly anticipated evented was installed by Christie’s valued partner YoungJin Visual Technology. Currently in its 9th year, the event is a catalyst for creating momentums for art, media and technology, as well as promoting local and international artists with the aim to nurture a wider appreciation of arts and culture.
