Orlando, Florida– 18th ITS World Congress–October 16, 2011.  Jupiter Systems, the leading worldwide supplier of display wall processors for Traffic Management Centers, announced that it has become the first display wall processor on Florida DOT’s Approved Product List (APL) for Traffic Control Signals and Devices in the newly created “Video Display Control Systems” category.

Jupiter also announced the availability of its SunGuide interface for Fusion and Fusion Catalyst display wall processors.  SunGuide is a suite of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) software that allows the control of roadway devices as well as information exchange across a variety of transportation agencies, and is deployed throughout the state of Florida.  Jupiter’s SunGuide interface, developed jointly by Jupiter and Southwest Research Institute, the original developer of SunGuide, was tested and certified by FDOT’s Traffic Engineering Research Laboratory (TERL) on February 9, 2011.

After considerable testing of Jupiter’s hardware and software at TERL facilities, FDOT chose to create a new Approved Products List category for Video Display Control Systems, to which the Fusion Catalyst 4000 was the first to be added on September 27, 2011.

“Jupiter Systems is investing heavily to meet the current and long term needs of ITS infrastructures in Florida and around the world,” said Brady O. Bruce, Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Alliances at Jupiter Systems.  “After achieving FDOT Qualified Vendor status in 2009 we worked with and FDOT’s Traffic Engineering Research Lab and Southwest Research Institute, the original developer of SunGuide, to create the SunGuide interface for the Fusion Catalyst product line. The integration of Jupiter display wall processors and the SunGuide system benefits both Florida’s citizens and everyone in the traffic management community.”

“When Jupiter introduced its high-performance Fusion Catalyst product line in 2010, we retained the simple, yet powerful ControlPoint user interface common to thousands of legacy Fusion systems worldwide”, said Richard Schlinkert, Southeast Regional Sales Manager for Jupiter. “This strategy allows existing Jupiter customers to upgrade to the new Fusion Catalyst platform with virtually no change in the user experience, greatly reducing transition costs and eliminating the need for retraining operators.  In the case of SunGuide sites, the transition is completely seamless”.

Jupiter Systems, the leading worldwide supplier of display wall processors for intelligent traffic management systems around the world.  Jupiter installations can be found in Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, Seminole, Osceola and Manatee County TMC’s, Mississippi DOT, Louisiana DOT, and in almost every U.S. state, as well as traffic management centers in New Zealand, Turkey, and many other countries.  Jupiter Systems is a member of the ITS of America, and ITS of Florida.
